About the Haugh
Mission
Located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, the Haugh Performing Arts Center at Citrus College is committed to providing a comfortable, safe, affordable, and inviting environment for patrons and performers alike. Programming is selected to support the academic needs of our students and the artistic expectations of our audiences. Community users of the facility are offered the use of the building at affordable rates which allow the college to achieve its desire to be a regional hub for fine arts activity in the communities we serve.
History

The dream of creating a regional performing arts center began in the early 1960s. Under the leadership of then-president Dr. Robert D. Haugh, alliances were formed with five cities in the Citrus College district. Shortly after construction began, the passage of Proposition 13 forced the cities to withdraw their financial support; but construction was completed in 1971 and the college assumed responsibility for the new Citrus College Auditorium operation.
Since that beginning almost 50 years ago, this magnificent facility has played host to an ever-expanding range of college, professional, and community performances. The imposing building at the corner of Citrus Ave. and Foothill Blvd. in Glendora, California, includes the 1,400-seat Performing Arts Center, a flexible-seating black-box theatre, and music and theatre classrooms. HPAC today is a very busy place -- hosting over 700 students daily and 200 performances annually.
In 1981, the building was renamed the Haugh Performing Arts Center to honor retiring president Dr. Robert D. Haugh's service to the Citrus community and his remarkable commitment to supporting the fine arts. During that decade, the facility underwent significant improvements, including lobby and seating area face lifts.
